Theraputic Bodywork is for clients who would like to address specific problems, work with the energetic and emotional aspects of bodywork, or prefer to leave their clothes on during treatment. You can also recieve Theraputic Bodywork for pure enjoyment and health enhancement. Practitioners of Therputic Bodywork combine several massage and bodywork techniques, often including Swedish Massage. The treatment is tailored specifically to meet your needs
Syntropy is a specialized form of Theraputic Bodywork. Your therapist may recommend Syntropy if they believe it will best serve you, or you can request it. When using Syntropy, the practitioner performs the treatment with the client fully clothed, to allow free range of motion at the joints. Syntropy works directly with the nervous system and body energy to change stress and pain patterns, balance body energy, support mental alertness and creativity and promote emotional wellness.
Energy Work:Toward the end of their advanced training, ASM students study light-touch energy work. By listening carefully to your needs and the information gathered from your body, the practitioner uses light touch, movement, and your breathing to decrease sympathetic nervous system dominance (fight-or-flight) and increase parasympathetic response (rest and recover). Light touch energy work is deeply relaxing, and can be applied in cases when it is not safe or appropriate to use massage, such as acute injury, non-contagious illness, and when under the infulence of prescription pain medications, anti-inflammatoires or anticoagulants.
Swedish Massage is what comes to mind when people think, "Oh, I need a massage!" Practitioners use oil or lotion and gliding strokes, gradually progressing to deeper, more focused work. The soothing strokes are very relaxing and can be focused on problem areas. Because Swedish Massage increases circulation to the soft tissues of the body it promotes general tissue health and supports immune function.
Swedish Massage is especially helpful if you are stressed out, tired or in need of some pampering. It's also great if you are perfectly healthy and just want to enjoy yourself! And remember, you can schedule a two-hour treatment!
Prenatal Massage (must be pre-scheduled) Prenatal Massage is a specialized Swedish Massage treatment for the aches and pains of pregnancy (or to help prevent them!). Unique positioning for very pregnant mommies, and specific strokes for the back, neck and feet make Prenatal Massage a very special experience. Massage is completely safe and helpful during healthy pregnancies.
Shiatsu with Thai Yoga Massage (must be pre scheduled) The Shiatsu aspect involves pressure point work to alleviate stagnations and imbalances along energy channels of the body, and the Thai aspect involves stretching, which increases flexibility and range of motion in the muscles, joints and spine. These two styles work in conjunction to promote a healthy flow of energy through the body and treat root conditions rather than symptoms, as well as relaxing and balancing the entire mind, body and spirit. This type of bodywork is done on mats on the floor, with the client clothed.
