You Have Options...
Training is available at ASM in three formats: 250-hour Swedish Massage Certification, 350-hour Therapeutic Bodywork Certification (250-hour prerequisite) and the 600-hour Integrated Curriculum. New students can choose to begin with Swedish Massage Certification, and then progress into Therapeutic Bodywork, or take the complete 600-hour program. Returning students who need to re-certify because of the new CA massage law, or want to become Nationally Certified can choose either program.
WORKING THERAPISTS WHO WANT TO RECERTIFY WITH MORE EDUCATION CAN APPLY DIRECTLY TO OUR 350-HOUR THERAPUTIC MASSAGE TRAINING PROGRAM.
Our 600-hour Curriculum
In our integrated curriculum, each class weaves together with the others to provide students with a comprehensive education and a fulfilling personal experience. In each class, the group stays together the whole time. Your primary mentors stay with you as well, each involved in a different aspect of your education. We call your instructors “Mentors” because they teach massage and bodywork differently to each individual student, concentrating on your specific needs. In the full, 600-hour program, we work with you for 10 consecutive months as you develop confidence in your own, unique styles and skills.
Students who choose the 600-hour integrated curriculum do so because they value the opportunity to develop their own individual style, they appreciate our focus on their development, and they value the research and experience that goes into creating a program that focuses on both the clinical and intuitive aspects of massage and bodywork.
Graduates of the 600-hour Integrated Curriculum are eligible and well prepared to take the National Certification Exam and the MBLEx (see "Exams" below) , as well as many state-administered certification exams. The program develops therapists who are capable of working everywhere massage is offered, including spas, chiropractic offices, physical therapy offices, doctor’s offices, holistic clinics, and as self-employed therapists.
